Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Saturday - Mumbai

This evening, arrive at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and board the Deccan Odyssey on a mesmerizing voyage through the Maratha heartland.

Day 02: Sunday - Nashik

Arrive in Nashik
  • 0900 Hrs: Disembark and spend the morning walking along the Godavari Ghats.
  • 1200 Hrs: Leave for Sula vineyards tour
  • 1245 Hrs: Walk at vines laden with Chenin, Chardonnay and Shiraz grapes.
  • 1400 Hrs: Lunch at Sula Vineyards.

Day 03: Monday - Ellora Caves

Proceed to visit Ellora Caves carved into the side of a basaltic hill 30 km from the city.
  • 0830 Hrs: Disembark Deccan Odyssey for Ellora Caves.
  • 0930 Hrs: Tour of Ellora Caves
  • 1230 Hrs: Reach station and board Deccan Odyssey
  • 1300 Hrs: Lunch Onboard
In the evening, sit back, unwind and enjoy cocktails. (Departure at 14:30)

Day 04: Tuesday - Ajanta Caves

Arrive at Jalgaon railway station and drive to Ajanta Caves.
    • 0800 Hrs: Disembark Deccan Odyssey for Ajanta Caves.
    • 1000 Hrs: Visit of Ajanta Caves another World Heritage site
    • 1400 Hrs: Reach Railway station and Board Deccan Odyssey for lunch.
The rest of the day is at leisure for you to relax and enjoy some of the activities available on board. (Departure at 14:30)

Day 05: Wednesday - Kolhapur

Arrive at Kolhapur, a multifaceted c with a mythical past.
      • 1245 Hrs: Disembark Deccan Odyssey for City Tour of Kolhapur.
      • 1300 Hrs: Visit the New Palace Museum, a lovely sandstone octagonal Palace.
      • 1400 Hrs: Local markets visit for beautifully handcrafted Kolhapuri chappals.
      • 1545 Hrs: Proceed to tea venue followed by Lavanya Sandhya, a vibrant folk performance.
      • 1715 Hrs: Visit the 1300 year old Mahalakshmi temple, also called Shakti Pethas,
      • 1850 Hrs: Reach Railway station and Board Deccan Odyssey

Day 06: Thursday - Goa

Arrive in Goa, known for its beaches churches and temples.
      • 0830 Hrs: Disembark and drive to Fontainhas
      • 1215 Hrs: Lunch and Spice Plantation tour
      • 1530 Hrs: Leisure time at the nearest Beach
      • 1830 Hrs: Return to the Deccan Odyssey for dinner as it departs for Sindhudurg

Day 07: Friday - Sindhudurg

Arrive in Sindhudurg which lies on a rocky island just off the coast of Malvan.
      • 0830 Hrs: Disembark Deccan Odyssey and drive to Pinguli
      • 0915 Hrs: A visit to Sindhudurg’s Pinguli village and Sawantwadi Palace.
      • 1200 Hrs: Visit to Sawantwadi Palace for a delicious lunch
      • 1600 Hrs: Reach Railway station and board Deccan Odyssey.

Day 08: Saturday - Mumbai

Arrive at Mumbai, where your journey comes to an end.

  • Double Bed Supplement - $500 (Taxes Extra)
  • As the train runs on the tracks of the Indian Railways, the itineraries are subject to change in case of any changes in the routing etc.
  • Prices are subject to change in case of any amendment in the routing or other hikes such as fuel, taxes etc.
  • Children below 5 years of age shall be allowed free, subject to sharing of double bed with parents. This is subject to availability of double bed at the time of booking.
  • Presidential Suite can accommodate up to 3 adults or 2 Adults and 2 children (One child up to 5 years of age and second child up to 12 years of age).
  • GST of 5.00% (subject to change as per Govt. directives) is additional and will be charged extra on the invoiced amount.
  • We need minimum occupancy to operate all listed journeys, in event if we do not manage minimum occupancy we reserve the right to cancel the journey at least with 30 days prior intimation.
  • As Train runs on tracks so you may experience sounds of passing trains and some shaking during the journey. This is a normal feature countrywide with trains in India.
  • The Entire Deccan Odyssey Train is non Smoking. For any particular requirement, kindly contact your Valet.
Child Policy:

Deccan Odyssey does accommodate children but we ask parents to be mindful of the sophisticated adult atmosphere we endeavor to maintain.

  • One child up to 5 years of age shall be allowed free of cost in the Deluxe Cabin, subject to sharing of double bed with parents. This is subject to availability of double bed at the time of booking.
  • For families, with a child between 6-12 years of age, or, with two children with one child below 5 years and another between 6-12 years, we recommend the Presidential Suite which has a double bed in the bedroom and can be shared with a child below 5 years and a sofa cum bed in the living room which can accommodate the older child. In this case, the child/children will be accommodated free of cost.
  • In case of two children between 6-12 years of age travelling with their parents, you will have to take 2 cabins. The first child pays 25% of the adult fare and the second child will have to pay 50% of the adult fare. One of the parents will have to be present with the child / children in the cabin.
  • Please note that we do not have the facility for interconnecting cabins.
  • All applicable taxes will be charged extra.
Payment:
  • 20% of the ticket value:at the time of booking
  • 80% of the ticket value:45 days before the departure date
Cancellation
  • Any cancellation must be advised immediately by email (rail@therailjourneys.com) and subsequently confirmed by letter to the Central Reservation Division.
  • Retention of 10% of ticket value on cancelling 60 days prior to the departure date.
  • Retention of 20% of ticket value on cancelling 59 - 45 days prior to the departure date.
  • Retention of 50% of ticket Value on cancelling 44 - 30 days prior to the departure date.
  • Retention of 100% of ticket value on cancelling 29 days prior to the departure date
